Lance Hinds was returned unopposed as president of Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) when the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of office bearers was held at the club’s Ferdinand Pavilion last Friday.
Hinds, who took over the stewardship of the club in 2006 from past president Edward Richmond, and his entire executive body were elected unopposed.
The club in Thomas Lands was founded back in 1902 by Ferdinand Archer, a Barbadian tailor after whom the pavilion is named.
The club’s second division captain Arron Fraser and former national player Neil Barry will serve in the capacity of first and second vice presidents, the same positions they held last year under the stewardship of Hinds.
Long serving secretary of the club Theresa Pemberton will continue to serve in that capacity as well as Godfrey Success who will serve as treasurer.
The duties of assistant secretary/treasurer will be carried out by first division left arm spinner Damian Vantull, one of five new faces on the executive committee while former national under-19 off spinner Sean Devers has been reunited with the executive in the capacity of Public Relations Officer (PRO), a position he held back in the ’90s.
There is a new club captain in Shevon Duguid who also plays for the club at the second division level and the two committee members are Debra Mc Nichol and Floyd Levi who together with Devers, Vantull and Duguid are the new faces on the executive body of MSC.
According to a press release, Chairman of the national selection panel and former president of MSC Claude Raphael congratulated the executives for their hard work and total commitment to the day-to-day affairs of not only the club, but the development of cricket there.
Raphael holds the record as the longest serving president of the club and was instrumental in establishing the club’s Youth Programme during his tenure as president.
The 2008 Office Bearers are: Lance Hinds (president), Arron Fraser (first vice president), Neil Barry (second vice president), Theresa Pemberton (secretary), Godfrey Success (treasurer) Damian Vantull (assistant secretary/treasurer), Sean Devers (PRO), Shevon Duguid (club captain).
And committee members are Debra Mc Nichol and Floyd Levi.
