Rajin Tulkan of Unstoppable and Jagdesh Deosarran of Country Side from Lusignan stole the spotlight in the latest round of matches for the Trophy Stall 15 overs softball cricket competition last Sunday.

Playing for Unstoppable of West Coast Demerara against Bellevue, Tulkan struck 65 (7x6s) and with some solid support from Nafeez Mohammed who made an unbeaten 38 (4x6s) saw their team to a challenging 184-7 from their 15 overs.

Khemraj Gobin took 2-20 for Bellevue XI who then made a spirited effort with their reply before being all out for 127 from 14.1 overs to lose by 57 runs. Hassan Inshan led their batting with 36 (4x6s) against the bowling of Harry Singh who claimed 3-24.

In their second game of the day, Unstoppable lost to Street Boys by seven wickets. They batted first and were bowled out for 120 from 11.4 overs with Tulkan leading the batting with 44 (5x6s) as Wahid Mohammed took 4-27 and Kissoon Singh 2-21 for Street Boys who reached 121-3 from 11 overs with Anand Khemraj leading from the front with 32 (3x6s).

Deosarran who is the brother of former national under-19 batsman Krishna Deosarran led his team Country Side of Lusignan to a comfortable 199 runs victory over Bourda Market XI.

Country Side batted first and rattled up 179-9 from their 15 overs with Deosarran making 56 (7x6s) and Davenand Samaroo 34 (2x6s). Jewan Dasrat took 3-35 bowling for Bourda Market XI, who were then dismantled for a meagre 60 in reply from 12 overs as they struggled against the bowling of Riaz Hanif (3-3) and Sakichan Jagdeo (3-5).

In their second game, Country side defeated All Star by nine wickets.

All Star batted first and were bowled out for 53 from 10.1 overs by Country Side. Sakichan Jagdeo (3-0) and Richard Gomes (3-7) did the damage for Country side who replied with 53-1 from 3 overs. Deosarran was once again amongst the runs with an unbeaten 32 (3x6s) .

Rocky XI continues winning ways

Rocky XI also from West Coast Demerara continued their winning ways with successive victories over Ruimzeight XI and Zeeburg.

In their first game, Ruimzeight XI batting first were bowled out for 94 from 11.3 overs with Anand Bharat being the lone contributor with 25. Bishan Persaud took 4-14 for Rocky XI who replied with 95-2 from eight overs with Amrit Jairam leading the way with a polished, unbeaten 59 that was decorated with five sixes.

In their second game Rocky XI defeated Bellevue from West Bank Demerara by nine wickets. Batting first, Bellevue were bowled out for 100 from 13 overs with Terry Samuels making 29 (4x4s) as Ramdial Rambharose took 3-22 and Bishan Persaud 3-19 for Rocky XI.

Rocky XI in reply scored 103-1 from 7.2 overs with Jairam leading the batting again with a polished unbeaten 64 whilst Persaud offered support making 20 not out.

Street Boys also completed a double win when they defeated Players XI by three wickets in their second game following their victory over Unstoppable.

Players XI batted first and scored 105 all out from their 15 overs with Michael Persaud contributing 39 (4×6). Anand Khemraj (3-11) and Wahid Mohammed (3-28) led the bowling for Street Boys who made 106-7 in reply from 12 overs with John Singh making 40 (5x6s).

La Grange chalks up victory La Grange XI defeated Floodlight XI by 53 runs in their match up to finally chalk up a victory. They batted first and scored 140-7 from their 15 overs with Ricky Persaud (3x6s; 4x4s) leading the way with 51 whilst Raul Persaud made 33(3x6s).

Paul Parsram took 2-34 for Floodlight XI who were then bundled out for 87 from 11.1 overs. Only Rajesh Singh with 19 (2x6s) and Vishal Motilall 16 (2x4s) offered resistance to the bowling of Ramkumar Persaud who took 3-24 for La Grange.

The competition continues today with matches being played at the Everest Cricket Club, Providence and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) grounds respectively.
