Sunburst Camptown, GDF record wins

Sunburst Camptown defeated Santos 2-0 while the Guyana Defence Force thrashed Fruta Conquerors 3-0 as the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Cellink Plus Premier League football competition continued on Sunday night at the Tucville Playfield.

Telson Mc Kennon opened the scoring for Sunburst Camptown in the 54th minute finding the back of the net with a powerful shot from the 18-yard box while Troy Prescod converted a penalty in the 69th minute after Quame La Fleur was fouled in the box.

In the second game of the double header which started at 8pm, the Guyana Defence Force upset pre-match favourite Fruta Conquerors.

Warren Gilkes opened the scoring for the winners just upon the stroke of half-time with a solo run while Shawn Arthur doubled the lead in the 79th minute before Dwight Peters’ shot from within the box made it 3-0.

The competition continues on Friday at the same venue from 6pm when the GDF will oppose Uprising Football Club. That match will be followed by Alpha United against Sunburst Camptown.

On Sunday the Guyana Defence Force will oppose Uprising Football Club from 6pm and at 8pm, Pele will tackle Santos Football Club.
