Upper Demerara retains Pepsi Cup

Upper Demerara retained the Pepsi Under-17 football Cup when they edged out Georgetown 1-0 in an exciting final played last Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.

The tournament which featured affiliates of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) was sponsored by Demerara Distillers Ltd. through its Pepsi brand.
Deshawn Joseph netted the game’s lone goal in the 16th minute after the host and defending champions Upper Demerara launched an early attack on their opponents.

Georgetown went on the offensive to equalise.
The pace of the game intensified as Upper Demerara tried to maintain their advantage with superb ball possession throughout the rest of the first half.
Georgetown, on the other hand, stepped up their challenge but found a sturdy defence by the home team which denied them the opportunity of equalising.

After 90 minutes of fierce battle the score remained 1-0 in favour of Upper Demerara……
