Andre SookhooSunburst Camptown blew away Pele ‘Football Club’ (FC)  2 – 1 in their  showdown on Sunday night at the Tucville Playfield whilst Santos FC had a ‘plaster for every sore’ against Alpha United drawing their encounter 0-0 on Mother’s Day (evening) as the Guyana Football Association (GFA) Cellink Plus first division league continued.

Marvin JosephIn the opening game of the night, both Santos and Alpha United goal-keepers were allowed to leave with clean sheets as neither of the two teams could get the ball between the uprights to register a goal.

And the goalless trend continued in the feature match between Sunburst Camptown and Pele at least for the first 45 minutes of the game that is.

That trend was to be broken in the latter half of the match.

Lance RawlstonLance Rawlston of Sunburst Camptown was the first to overcome the goal-shy feeling and break the ice in the 54th minute sending a cool shiver down Pele’s spine.

As if that wasn’t enough; Marvin Joseph followed suit when he blasted one past Pele’s custodian to become the second goal scorer in the 75th minute of play.

A comeback may have entered the opposition’s thoughts when Andre Sookhoo scratched a mark on the board for Pele.

But with three minutes left before regulation time after Sookhoo’s success the task of scoring an equalizer proved too much for Pele.
