Peter Grimes (85), Michael Kendall (52 and 4-0) and Ravi Narine 5-5 highlighted the first round of the Berbice zone of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Neal and Massey sponsored 40 overs first division cricket competition which got under way last Sunday in the Ancient County.

At Scotsburg, home team Scotsburg United defeated Kildonan by 93 runs thanks mainly to the all round performance of Kendall. Losing the toss and being asked to take first strike, Scotsburg scored 251-5 from their 40 overs with Grimes hitting 85 and Kendall 52. They had earlier received a 66 runs second wicket partnership from Berbice Under-19 opener Alex Amsterdam (21) and Clarence Beresford (27). Medium pacer Hemraj Mankarran took 2-54 for Kildonan who were then bowled out for 158 from 34.1 overs……
