Judo open novice tournament on today

The Rising Sun Judo Club will be hosting an open tournament today at 9am at the Marian Academy for novice competitors of all ages. The tournament was organized by the Rising Sun Judo Club and has reportedly attracted just over ten fighters.

According to the secretary of the Rising Sun Judo Club Pierre Boucher, the main objective of the tournament is to promote and encourage the newcomers of the sport to stay actively involved through competitive experience.

Boucher also said that the tournament follows the recent grading last week where some of the students graduated from white to yellow and yellow to orange belts and the tournament will feature those successful as well as those who were not
.
Following the tournament, there will be a brief presentation ceremony to award the first, second and third- placed finishers as well as to award prizes for the best technique and the fastest ippon-which is the action of ending a match by throwing your opponent to the floor.
