Guyana players advance to second round

Zaheeda Samdally has been named skipper of a 13-member women’s cricket team to represent the country in the upcoming senior regional women’s cricket tournament to be held in Jamaica from August 3-16.

Abeena Parker has been named vice-captain while there are five stand-bys.

All the players including the stand bys are required to report to the GCB Hostel Third Street Alberttown tomorrow for encampment which runs until July 28.

The players are also requested to walk with their passports.

The players named are:Zaheeda Samdally, captain, Abena Parker, vice-captain,  Shemaine Campbell, Darlene Gale, Tremayne Smartt, Marina Bridgemohan, Tracy Miller, Olivia O’Selmo, Davanie Sewnarine, Joann Vansertima, Sabrina Munroe,  Erva Giddings and Wazeeda Bacchus.

The stand-bys are: Victoria Bacchus, Prudence Williams, Kumarie Persaud, Nikita Toney and Anjanie Lalbachan.

Mayleen Ramdular will manage the side with Michael Hyles as the coach.
