John Emanuel Nestor was my grandfather. I never met him and I am so sorry to hear about his death like this. My name is Nkole Nkole. I am a 22-year-old female. My mother, Audrey Nestor Bess Nkole, is John Nestor’s daughter. He was once married to my grandmother, Carmen Albertha Bess and together they had my mother. My mother was born in New Amsterdam, Guyana but grew up in Georgetown. In 1974, she left Guyana for Zambia, a country in southern Africa and married my father. She has lived and worked there since. My grandmother, Carmen is in Zambia too and so am I. I had been trying to trace my grandfather, John Nestor, since last year via the internet. After several failed attempts, I intended to contact one of my granny’s friends living in Guyana to help me search for him. My grandmother always said he was well known. She described him as a ‘gentleman.’ She talked about how tall he was too and that he was a bookworm. She told me the last place she remembered him working was at a beverage company. I googled his name today using my mobile phone and was finally sucessful albeit sad to hear that he had passed away almost exactly a month after I had finally traced him. I would love to meet my mother’s half siblings and perhaps we can all arrange a proper memorial. Please send me any contact number and e-mail of John Nestor’s relatives.
