Annual Emancipation Day run set for today

The sixth annual Emancipation Day run is set to take place today, organizer of the event Carlton Stephenson told Stabroek Sport.

The event, a marathon race open to males, will see competitors trekking the distance from Parika to Sophia.

The event has been organized by the South Turkeyen and Cummings Park sports committee.
A number of trophies and medals are up for grabs.

Meanwhile, Corn Man’s sixth annual Corn Jam and Sports event is set for `D’ Field’ (last ground) Sophia on Sunday.

The events include an upright cycle race for males, BMX road races for cyclists under the ages of 12, 10-overs-a-side male softball cricket matches, 800m races for girls under 12 years of age and family feud tug-o-war and other competitions.
