The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) yesterday called up 20 women players to practice with a view towards possible selection on the Guyana national team to participate in the upcoming North America and West Indies Rugby Association (NAWIRA) Sevens tournament.

The championships will take place in The Bahamas on October 25 and 26 and will coincide with the NAWIRA Rugby World Cup Sevens Qualifying Tournament.
According to a release from the GRFU, 12 players will be selected in October to represent Guyana at the Championships.
The following players have been called to practice: Alicia Jalu, Andrea Lashley, Careem Skeete, Carrin Carter, Charmin Pearson, Collette Hope, Desaun Josiah, Grace Jarvis, Latoya Hamilton, Laurel Anderson,    Lisa Mangroo, Maurees Skeete, Natolia Primo, Nicole Nero, Nikita Davis, Sabola Gray, Shennel Daniels, Theressa Torres, Tracey Greaves and Tricia Munroe.

Practice days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 4.30pm at the National Park.
Meanwhile there will be a meeting of all players at the GNEC Sports Club on Sunday from 9.30am. Head Coach for the women’s team is Alton Agard and his assistant will be Cornel Millington.
