First vice-president of the Georgetown Football Associa-tion (GFA) Wayne Forde has joined the chorus of persons calling for the resignation of Guyana Football Federation (GFF) president Colin Klass.

“I am absolutely confident that if we conducted a referendum at every level within the national football family on the need for Mr. Klass to resign as President of the GFF, we will get a resounding yes,” Forde wrote in correspondence copied to this newspaper.

Forde said Klass had outlived his usefulness, if any at all, having being at the helm for over 20 years. Yet he said, the GFF boss still clings to a position in which he was no longer respected. He added that Klass’s ineffectiveness could be seen in his failure to “mobilize and nurture relationships whether it is within the football family, the government or the business community.” Forde said that he was confident that the time was ripe for a major change in the way football was being run locally and added that he too wished that Klass would resign quickly for the good of the game.
