The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will be represented by a four-member team at this week-end’s Puerto Rico International tournament.

According to a release from the organization Christopher Franklyn, Matthew Khan, Trenace Lowe and Michelle John are scheduled to leave today for Cayey for the tournament which starts tomorrow and ends August 12.

John and Lowe, just off of their recent successes at the World Junior Circuit event in Colombia , will team up with their male counterparts Franklyn and Khan to participate in the Inaugural Cayey Puerto Rico International Championships.

The four players along with overseas-based  racquet wielder Paul David  were invited by the Puerto Rico Table Tennis Federation.

They will join a select group of players in North and Latin America and the Caribbean region along with players from Europe to participate in this prestigious championship.

Khan who is already in Puerto Rico is coming off victories in the USA in the Spinathon Open.

“Puerto Rico has an international university which is offering table tennis scholarships to table tennis players, so our players have the opportunity to lobby since their skills will be under the microscope,” general secretary Godfrey Munroe said yesterday.

The  association has managed to secure full sponsorship for the players from  Joseph Johnson, Demerara Power Limited, and Ansa Mc Cal Trading.
