Local cyclists will again be showcasing their abilities when they pedal up the road Sunday in the Ocean View International 60-mile cycle road race organized by national cycling coach Hassan Mohammed from 07:30hrs.

This event will pedal off from in front of the of the hotel’s Liliendaal entrance and proceed to Perseverance, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara before turning around for the downward journey.

And expected to compete will be Roraima Cycle Club’s Darren Allen who was victorious in the recent Geddes Grant (Guyana) Limited fifth annual Seven Seas cycle race around the inner circuit of the National Park.

Moreover, Alonzo Greaves, new national road race champion John Charles, Leer Nunes, Tyrone Hamilton, Junior Niles, Robin Persaud and Jaikarran Sukhai are all expected to offer Allen stiff competition among the seniors in this race which is being held as part of the activities for Carifesta X.

In the junior category, national road race champion Neil Reece can expect a stern challenge from the likes of Geron Williams, Danny Ramchurgee and Jason Pollydore as former national junior road race champion Christopher Holder is overseas.

In the Veteran division, much rivalry can be expected between Kennard Lovell and Linden Blackman, but they will still have to pay keen attention to Virgil Jones and Davendra Ramnarine in a race that will proceed to Belfield Car Park before returning to the start line.

Prizes will be awarded to the first six overall finishers, while the first three in the Juniors, Veteran and Upright categories respectively will be awarded prizes also, presented by an Ocean View Hotel representative.
