Thomas United hammers Flamingo as four teams exit tourney

Thomas United Football Club produced a terrific display of football in thrashing Flamingo 5-0 in the George-town Football Association’s (GFA) Chubby Under-14 Football Competition yesterday at the Tucville Playfield.

Though Flamingo presented Thomas United with two goals, costly errors were not the only factors in the 5-0 whipping.
The two gifts came in the 17th and the 59th minutes of play and added to a double from Romair Gittens, who scored in the 24th and 37th minutes.

Devon Harvey was the other successful goal scorer for Thomas United finding the back of the net in the 30th minute.
Defending champions Beacon United led by a double from Kason Day who produced goals in the 26th and 43rd minutes with support from Kimba Braithwaite (39th) and Darren Harris (59th) rearranged Rhythm Squad’s beats.
And, after a goalless first half in the Sunburst Camptown/First Assembly encounter, First Assembly drew first blood when Akini George struck in the 58th minute.

They further extended their lead after Kevin Harvey scored 20 minutes later to end the match 2 – 0.
Fruta Conquerors’ Ryan Hackett continued his good form scoring in the 10th minute against Georgetown Football Club (GFC) to give them a 1 – 0 victory while Delano Baptiste struck in the 39th minute in Strike Again’s 1-0 win over Renaissance.

Pele failed to be present for another encounter thus giving Santos Football Club a walkover.
Camptown, Pele, Flamingo and Rhythm Squad have now been eliminated from the tournament after the conclusion of the round robin stage of the competition.
