The Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground will come alive tomorrow with the commencement of the fourth annual Clive ‘Breezer’ Nedd Memorial Masters football tournament which is scheduled to kick-off at 11am.

The tournament is held in remembrance of the late national footballer Clive ‘Breezer’ Nedd.
Nedd was a former Caribbean All Star player who was selected to play for the Caribbean All Star Team in 1978 in Trinidad and Tobago against the New York Cosmos team which included the legendary King Pele.

He served the likes of Santos FC, North East La Penitence, Guyana and the Caribbean before he met his untimely passing on August 22, 1999 on a football field.

Pele Masters, G/T All Stars, Santos Masters, Carib Masters, Thomas United, Western Tigers, GFC Masters and the Rastafarian Patriarchs are the eight teams involved in the knockout tournament.
The first encounter between Pele Masters and G/T All Stars gets underway at 11am while Santos Masters take on Rastafarian Patriarchs in match two at noon.

Match three will have Carib Masters trying to outclass GFC Masters at 1pm and Thomas United trying to tame Western Tigers beginning at 2pm.

The victors of matches one and three will contest semi-final one and the winner of matches two and four will collide in semi- final two.

The semis are set to play at 15:00hrs and 16:00hrs respectively while the final is set to kick-off at 18:00hrs.
Football enthusiasts such as Bobby Fernandes, Maurice John, Ivor O’Brien, Kevin Walcott and Joe Harmon have assisted along with organizations such as Banks DIH, Guyana Beverages Inc., Prince Restaurant and Bar, Sandy’s Funeral Home and Beckles and Sons Lumber Yard in staging the tournament which is being co-ordinated by Nedd’s son Shawn Fraser – Nedd and family.
