A mammoth total of 880 points by the Carmel team gained them the Calphays Youth Federation of Seventh Day Adventist Athletics and Cycling Championship title at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary last Sunday. Carmel blew away the other two teams, Central finished second on 375 points and Ephesus third with 364 points.

Team Central started the day with a bang, winning all the junior sprint events to take an early lead.
But team Carmel rebounded with a relentless assault and dominated the teenage category, sweeping all the events in the process.

Clennel Petty and Leon David, who competed in the under-15 and under-17 categories respectively.

They both swept the 100m and 800 metres while Latoya Roberts swept the senior female 100m, 200m and 400m.

Derwin East was victorious in the senior male 100m and 200m but finished second to Wayne Harlequin in the 400m who also won the senior male 800m.

Ephesus’ Stephen Harris won the individual prize for his sterling performance and  carted off  the under-20 Male 200m and 400m and finished third in the 100m.

Mawava Simon and Malika Trim completed sprint doubles in the female under-15 and under-17 categories while Kabisa Dawson and Niketa Hendricks won the male and female 1500m and 3000m respectively.

Sequan Simon(Carmel) and Fiona Eastman(Central) were awarded with the junior male and female individual prizes respectively while Clennel Petty and Leon David shared the Teen Male individual prize.

Carmel’s Shaunsel Adams and Latoya Jack claimed the teen female and senior female Individual Prizes respectively.
