Greaves favoured to win 6th Annual LHL event

Defending champion Alonzo Greaves is highly favoured to retain his title when the sixth annual Laparkan Holdings Limited (LHL) sponsored cycle programme organized by national cycling coach Hassan Mohammed pedals off around the inner circuit of the National Park on Saturday.

Greaves has been in fine form recently recording a splendid victory in the ninth annual De Sinco Trading Limited Milkaut sponsored programme last weekend and, having won last year’s Schoolboys and Novices LHL event with a time of 1:26:56secs, he will be the rider to dethrone come Saturday.

But Greaves, who rides for Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club, has to take on challenges in the 35-lap event from such capable competitors as Darren Allen, John Charles, Jaikarran Sukhai, Tyrone Conway, Ossie Edwards, and Juveniles Christopher Holder Jnr., Geron Williams, Danny Ramchurgee and newly-crowned Junior Road Race champion, 14-year-old Neil Reece Jnr. of Berbice.

The juvenile category will see a new champion being crowned as defending champion Scott Savory has migrated, allowing for Holder, Williams, Reece, Ramchurgee, Christopher Persaud and Jason Pollydore to compete for the crown.

Other events carded for the day include the veterans under-50 and over-50 and upright cyclists events.

The uprights will all cover the distance around the inner circuit five times respectively along with the BMX boys and girls three laps and BMX girls (6 to 12 years) one lap.

Action is slated to get underway from 09:00hrs and representatives of Laparkan Holdings Limited will be on hand to assist with the distribution of prizes to the various winners at the end of the several races.
