Coming off of an Alpha United Carifesta Football Cup win, Alpha United continued their winning ways and inflicted a 4 – 0 whipping on GFC in the curtain raiser of the double header which had Pele Football Club defeating Sunburst Camptown in a nail-biting encounter.

Anthony Abrahams had another fantastic night in the competition for Alpha United as he recorded a double, scoring in the 35th and 37th  minute but it was Shawn Bishop who drew first blood for Alpha when he found the back of the net in the 23rd minute.

GFC’s goal keeper had a troublesome 90 minutes of play as the Alpha strikers were often on the attack against him as they outdid the GFC defenders on numerous occasions.

In the final 45 minutes of play Alpha continued their attack on the opposition’s goal but only managed to get one past the goal line. John Waldron on his birthday recorded an 81st minute goal but could have gotten a double but Abrahams was a bit self-seeking as he was probably looking for a hat-trick.

In the feature event of the evening Pele defeated Camptown 1 – 0 who might have been a bit shaken from the 2 – 0 defeat they suffered on Sunday at the hands of Alpha United in the final of the Alpha United Carifesta Football Tourney.

In the opening minutes of the first half Pele played intense football and launched constant attacks at Camptown’s goal as they played in Camptown’s half of the field.

Camptown’s Lance Raulston was given marching orders by the referee after he received a red card during the first 20 minutes of play leaving his team to battle with 10 players but the teams were soon even again as Pele’s Travis ‘Zorro’ Grant also received a red card.

The game progressed and Pele seized the opportunity to score in the 34th  minute when Keoma Gravesande found the back of the net.

When play resumed after the 15-minute break Pele held off Camptown to secure a win and gain another three points in the competition.
