Thomas United blows away Houston

Thomas United thrashed Houston to go home victorious in the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) Banks Beer First Division Football Competition at the Banks DIH ground, Thirst Park. Thomas United took Houston on a rough ride and inflicted a 6 – 1 beating on them while Flamingo and Beacon played matching football to end up in a 2 – 2 draw.

Doubles from Wayne Pias and Shawn Wright spearheaded the Thomas assault, Pias scored in the 35th and 57th minutes while Wright obtained his two in the 67th and 72nd minutes.

Prior to those doubles, Travis Savory thumped one past the goal line as early as the seventh minute for Thomas while the other goal scorer for Thomas was Orin Agard who was successful in the 71st minute. G. Spearmon was the only goal scorer for Houston, he was successful in the 16th minute.

Beacon who recently came off of a 6 – 1 defeat by BK International Western Tigers in the same competition, partially redeemed themselves as they were able to complete a draw with Flamingo.

Beacon’s Lamumba Hinds drew first blood when he found the back of the net in the fifth minute, then Shem Porter found the equalizer for Flamingo in the 13th minute and that concluded the first half at 1 – 1.

When play resumed it was Beacon who went ahead again as Sherwin Grimes scored in 65th minute then Flamingo again equalized but this time it was Leon Yaw in the 77th minute.

Action continues in the tournament on Tuesday, at the Tucville playfield with Northern Rangers taking on Black Pearl and Beacon challenging Thomas at the Camptown ground. Both matches begin at 4pm.
