Fruta Conquerors, Alpha United through to final

Fruta Conquerors and Alpha United will contest the final of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) organised DeSinco Trading Under-18 competition following semi-final victories at the Tucville Playfield on Saturday.

In the first semi-final Georgetown Football Club (GFC) went under 0 – 2  to Alpha United while Fruta Conquerors conquered Sunburst Camptown 3 – 1 in the ‘clash of juices semi-final.’

Second half goals from Alpha United’s Kelwin Chatman and Kelston Lammotte effectively shut down the GFC’s team’s offense in their encounter which was clearly dominated by Alpha whose strikers oftentimes could be found at the GFC’s goal mouth.

Chatman scored in the 41st minute when he got a clear shot at goal during a goal-mouth scrimmage while Lammotte pierced the opposition’s defence before thumping the ball past goal-keeper Prince Giddings in the 57th minute.

In the second encounter of the evening, Conquerors were able come out victorious mainly as a result of  a lot more attempts at goal than Camptown even though Alistair Butters was able to score  an 11th minute goal for Camptown.

Butters received a wonderful cross from the right flank  which got past the outstretched arms of Conquerors’ custodian and easily helped the ball into the back of the net.

Not long afterwards Conquerors’ exuberant striker Manesseh Primo came into action and blasted a 23rd minute equaliser for his team.

He (Primo) was then able to push his team ahead in the second half scoring from a rebound.

The Camtown custodian had failed to take cleanly, a fierce shot fired from midfield and the ball ricocheted off his torso and made its way back to Primo who blasted the ball into the back of the net in the 52nd minute.

Conquerors had a few other nail-biting attempts that were unsuccessful. Twice in five minutes the Camptown custodian was beaten all ends up but the ball deflected off the upright and made its way out of the 18-yard box on both occasions.

Conquerors final goal came by way of a penalty kick after Camptown’s Adrian Adonis was blown for handling the ball in the 18-yard box.

Earl McKay, who took the penalty shot in the 60th minute, made no mistake in placing the ball successfully between the uprights.

Sunburst Camptown and GFC will now battle for third place while Fruta Conquerors will take on Alpha United in the final on Saturday at the Tucville Playfield.

Kick off times are 4pm and 6pm respectively.
