All systems in place says FC president Marlan Cole

Today all roads lead to the Tucville Playfield as the second annual Fruta Conquerors’ (FC) organised Namilco Football Festival Knockout Tournament commences with what is expected to be two exhilarating matches.

This evening’s proceedings begin at 5pm with the march past of all 16  competing teams on display prior to the kick-off  at 6pm when  defending champions GDF will grace the playfield in the opening match against Bakewell Buxton Stars and  New Amsterdam United taking on Pele at 8pm.

President of the FC Club Marlan Cole said yesterday that so far, every aspect leading up to the commencement of the tourney had  been completed which should guarantee a smooth flow.

He added that numerous dignitaries would be present for the opening of the tournament such as Managing Director of Namilco Bert Sukhai and other members of the company along with GFA president Troy Mendonca.

“We would also have liked to have the army’s band to do an instrumental in the opening march past but unfortunately we can’t because they have other duties to attend to,” Cole stated.

General Managers of 2J’s General Store and Junior’s Jewellery recently handed over the prizes for the highest goal scorer and most valuable player of  the tournament while two computer scholarships, compliments of Global Technology, have also been submitted as individual prizes for the tournament.

There will be a promotion where two lucky persons whose ticket numbers are  chosen will win a Namilco Hamper at the half time  break of every game in the tournament.

When  (Cole) was questioned on the action that will be taken in the misconduct of a tournament participant(s) he said that a three member disciplinary committee of the competition that comprises of FC Secretary Lavern Fraser-Thomas and two elders from the Tucville Womens Group will decide their fate.

Cole said that a great cooperative effort between the FC Club, GFA and Tucville Womens Group has made the preparation for this tournament a very solid one.
