Thirty-seven-year-old American Carlette Ewell scored a unanimous decision over Guyana’s Gwendolyn O’ Neil on Saturday night in St. Maarten in their light heavyweight title bout.

Judge Ferdinand Glasgow scored the bout 97-95; judge: Joen Brison had it 98-96 and judge Jopie Williams scored it 99-95 all in favour of Ewell.

The win earned Ewell the WIBA Women’s International Boxing Association light heavyweight title, the WIBC Women’s International Boxing Council light heavyweight title and the vacant WIBA Women’s International Boxing Association light heavyweight title.

The win improved Ewell’s record to 20 fights, 13 wins and seven losses while the 39-year-old O’Neil, who had defeated Ewell in June also in St. Maarten on a split decision, slipped to 20 fights, 13 wins, six losses and one draw.
