Murray/Butcher Tribute Match set for today

The first ever Basil Butcher/ Deryck Murray Tribute 20/20 cricket match will be played today at  Rose Hall Canje Estate ground.

The match is being organized by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) under its Tribute to Heroes Programme and is sponsored by Ansa Mc Al Trading.

Demarara and Berbice will clash for the Butcher/Murray Trophy with the winning team receiving $100,000 in cash and 15 hygiene and educational kits.

The losing finalist will receive $50,000 along with 15 hygiene and educational kits each while  the Man of the Match will receive a trophy and $10,000.
Berbice will be led by national player Hoomchand Pooran while Demarara will have Zaheer Mohamed at the helm.
The game commences at 13:30hrs.
The 75-year-old Butcher, played 44 test matches for the West Indies while  65-year-old Murray played 66 tests.

The two will roll back the years before the match by facing six balls each.
Murray and Butcher will also be involved in an Evening of Stars when they will share their experiences with young cricketers after the game.
Murray will be in Guyana as a guest of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club and will deliver the feature address at the official launching of the Basil Butcher Cricket Development Fund.
The participating teams are:Berbice – Hoomchand Pooran, Richard Ramdeen, Maxime DeYounge, Jonathan Foo, R. Lachagadu, Paul Wintz, Delbert Hicks, Devon Clements, Devendra Bishu, Kwesi Mallay, Michael Newland, Seon Hetmeyer, Eugene La Fluer and Balram Samaroo.
Manager is David Black and Coach Hubern Evans.

Demarara- Zaheer Mohamed, Krishna Arjune, Ravi Sarwan, Kris Deosarran, Orin Forde, Travis Blyden, Trellon Carmichael, Sauid Drepaul, Troy Gonsalves, Jermaine Harris, Joseph Perry, Rayon Griffith and S. Deosarran.
