The New Line Aqua Farm-sponsored team New Line Cavaliers of West Demerara will battle with the Canadian cricket team which recently participated in the President’s Cup regional one-day tournament today.
The two teams will engage each other in a Twenty20 fixture starting at 13:00hrs at the Canal Number Two Sports Club ground, West Bank Demerara.

The New Line Aqua Farm is committing $600,000 in prizes for this match.
The winning team will pocket $400,000 with $100,000 going to the losing team and $100,000 going towards individual performances.

The combination of New Line Cavaliers players Avenash Sookdeo, Chien Gittens and wicketkeeper Maxwell Frazer, along with national middle-order batsman Gajanand Singh will be tested today as they take on the fast-improving Canadians.

Proprietor of New Line Aqua Farm and resident of Canal Number Two Salim Azeez said he expects the event to be festival-like.

He explained that this was all part of an overall plan to lift the standard of cricket and increase participation in the game in West Demerara.
Admission to the game is free. (Calvin Roberts)
