The local territiories need to take some of the blame for the poor standard of W/Indies cricket. Take Guyana for example, couldn't we have done more to prepare better pitches for this one day competiton?

How about us using some of Stanford's money, earmarked for infrastructural development , to build decent pitches.

for all the nice new amenities at Providence, the pitch is still the same...slow and low.

I still think that the WI team is made up of too many mediocre players. We should try some of our under nineteen players in future or as an insentive they can play all matches for a million dollars each as it seems that this is what is attractive to them. DIGUSTING INDEED.

How many times in the recent past have we heard these same salient points made - lack of professionalism, inadequate facilities, poor pitches, ...? It seems as if the people charged with the responsibility of addressing them are either incapable of doing so or simply don't care.

Sir Allen Stanford made very bold statement after his All-Stars' recent crushing win over England that "West Indies Cricket is back." It was akin to saying that Stoke City will go on to win the English Premier Football League after their recent win over Arsenal - extremely optimistic and bordering on ridiculous.

West Indies cricket is a long way for being "Back!" Not until these issues raised by Tony Cozier in his column, and so many others before him, are addressed, can anyone begin to say that our cricket is on its way back.

The crack has finally open and the inner light depicting all the flaws I hope will be revealed. The issue of Caribbean cricket is a confluence of many issues and readiness of our players is only a part of it. However their performance is a microcosm of the region prevailing disposition to life and its challenges. Mediocrity is the way to go.
I wonder aloud how much solution Stanford efforts will bring.

Woe be unto us.
