A total of six games were played at the newly-built Providence National Stadium in the international tournament and the WICB has agreed with the Guyana government that the proceeds received at the gate for those games would be handed over to the country.

Over US$2 million was handed over to Dr. Frank Anthony the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, which included the final installment of US$750,000.

The presentation was done by President of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Chetram Singh on behalf of the WICB.

“This money is actually to regain the investment we (the Government) made in upgrading our facility so as to help the WICB effectively host the CWC. This one event alone cannot pay back the investment, but it will help a great lot,” Dr. Frank Anthony stated.
