The gift which included five netballs, bibs and whistles were handed over to GNA President Maxine Aaron by Liaison Officer of the RPSF Troy Peters in the presence of members of the executive including veteran administrator Jeanette Lovell.

Peters said the equipment was donated by founder of the RPSF St. Lucia-based Joseph “Reds” Pereira who recently visited Guyana for the “Evening of Nostalgia” held at the Umana Yana.

Peters disclosed that Perreira, a former Sports Coordinator of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has always been closely associated with netball in the Caribbean and has extended his support to the GNA.
“Netball is very popular in the Caribbean and while Guyana has not been able to win any major title to date, once the game receives the necessary support locally it could break new ground,” Peters noted.

Parris-Aaron in response said that “Reds” has always been a friend of the local netball association and she extended a heartfelt gratitude to him for his assistance.

The RPSF is a non-profit organization task with assisting the development of sports in Guyana.
