The Alliance for Change (AFC) Seeds of Change initiative has seen strong enthusiasm and support from members of the public and the party plans to extend its programme to Berbice, Linden and to several interior locations  in the coming weeks.

The party, in a recent statement, expressed thanks to all, both locally and overseas, who made contributions towards the acquisition of the plants, the hardworking staff at Mc Garrell’s Plant Nursery at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo and to the persons who accepted the plants.

The statement said thousands of vegetable seedlings have already been distributed in Pattensen, Sophia, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, Hauraruni, Linden/Soesdyke Highway, Lusignan and Enmore, East Coast Demerara, Parika and Bartica. Meanwhile, Buxton, West Coast Berbice, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Corentyne, Linden, Rupununi, Port Kaituma, Mahdia, Kato and Money Mountain are among areas listed for distribution shortly.

AFC says the project is an equal opportunity one, which would see thousands of persons receiving the seedlings. It said too that its only expectations is that the seedlings would be planted, nurtured and used to produce food in this time of acute need and not be allowed to fall by the wayside or trodden upon or eaten by animals.

The party’s statement also said that persons interested in receiving plants or making contributions to the initiative could contact any member of the AFC executive or Desmond Moses on 227–5202 or 693-5131.
