A man who stole $14,500 worth of various articles was fined $20,000 when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Dwayne Singh, called ‘Tall Man’, of 157 Sussex Street, Albouystown pleaded guilty to the charge of simple larceny when it was read to him by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle. Between June 20 and 21 the defendant stole a number of articles, including an electric blender and three cases of empty bottles, property of Adrian Elejin.

According to the defendant he was passing on the road when he saw a door  open so he went in and took the items. The items were recovered after Singh directed the police to the person he had sold them to.

Singh was fined $20,000.
