A pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing the Number 45 Village, Corentyne road on Sunday after he reportedly tried to cross from behind a parked truck.

In a press release police said Amorjet Persaud, 36, of Yakusari South, Black Bush Polder died after he was struck by a motor car driven by Gerald Depoo of Port Mourant. The accident occurred around 6.30 pm.

Persaud was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

Depoo is in custody assisting with investigations.

    ……. another “mindless” act by both the pedestrian and the driver of the vehicle
    considering how many b4 have died in similar ” accidents ” shouldn’t both be concerned if not for their own safety but for others ,, the driver should have slowed down on approaching the parked truck,, knowing full well that anything is possible any time by anyone on the roads in GY ,, i tell you all this is just a simple case of ” MINDLESSNESS ” !!!… a young adult ,,, no less !
