Both the PPP and PNC are desirous and have attempted to manipulate and control the police and security services, for party and authoritarian control, with disasterous consequences to the society.
This self-righteous confession and apparent sincerety on the part of Mr. Rohee and Mr. Greene, should be backed up by adequate wages, training, equipment and proffessionalisation of the Police and security services and by making it accountable to parliament.
Only in this way, will the police have the confidence and support of the rest of the society.
The political administration, Mr. Rohee and Mr. Greene, should demonstrate their sincerety, by ‘ walking the talk ‘.

mackydog mr.rohee was not talking about the distance past .no no it is wat is fresh in people mind and his .well usa say over 200 murders from 2000 to 2006. macky highest murder rate in guyana history took place then . it was ppp member made mention first of phantom killing back in 2003 he knew wat he was talking about then like mr rohee now.
didn`t roger admit using his resources ( he was caught with )to fight crime .
don`t attack stabreok news it is doin better job than those there to protect the nation.

I wish it were possible to take Clement Rohee seriously. His words should be taken as seriously as the most sincere story told on All Fool’s Day. Hey, a story told on All Fool’s Day may very well be true. But the nature of the day makes suspect anything said on it. Unfortunately, I view Clement Rohee and his words the same way. Yes, truth and urgency are cast aside because of the messenger.

Mr. Editor, Mr. Rohee was obviously speaking of the PNC of what they did and who they are and are known for. Do you have to go University to know that? Don’t try to make ppl believe it was after 2002. It was during the Burnham/Hamilton Green PNC Errror. Who else had vendettas, and thugs (Rabbi), and black clothes goon squads…THE PNC. we need no phantom thank the usa we now know who was the phantom boss and his associates . he claimed he was sleeping in bed with the authority .at the time of reckoning one of the leading person in government denied knowing the boss. you talk about gun running, drug , murder and money laundering them phantom settled old score boy .the phantom perpetuate some of the most grusome murder in guyana it did not stop them it took criminal activity to a higer level .rubbing shoulder with big wig in the land .it was like italian mafia at work no wonder why many young honest guyanese run from gt.

The surviving relatives of the Bartica Massacre were unnecessarily inconvenienced by their travel to the city to observe the wreath laying.

Honoring the Police survivors in the Essequibo village would’ve prevented the relatives having to spend travel and accommodation expense. Not to mention Minister Rohee’s lost opportunity to allow the entire village of Bartica to commemorate the tragic event.

….what a lost opportunity indeed.

Confession is good for the soul!! Finally the esteemed minister has something he is in a position to comment on. Wonder if these comments were authorised by a higher authority because part of it sounds like an admission to something the administration has denied for years? These guys aren’t saying anything new. It is same old…. The more the era is left behind the more present it is.
I still think that if the police get totally into the business of law enforcement there would certainly be less crime.
