Why are you all wasting time with mackydog,he is not listening to reasoning,he does not want to hear,did you hear what he said? He “hates” the police with a passion. He refuse to accept that A rokium is putting his life in danger by sticking to his story,who would want to do that in Guyana,where people know things and have to shut up because it is a big risk to talk,Arokium is a very brave man,macky,you need to cool down we are in the year 2008.

You folks diod an excellent job commenting on this piece of news report.

Lots of interesting points were raised.

In my humble opinion, the general feeling is that the police did not do a good
job with their press release.

IMHO also, I think that becasue pressure is on them, they were compelled to
issue a press release.

Two things I would mention, , one to you folks and the other to our Monitor:

1] if your post is edited, there would be a good reason, so accept in all good
faith. I too have had mined edited and also a handful rejected. But I ain’t
complaining. I go over my copy and try to see why this occurred

2] could the Editor state why the full press release [this one as well as others
from the police ] is not published in the internet edition. ( I am assuming that
the full press release is published in the hard copy}. The point is there would
be not misinterpretation as could happen when a reporter does a precis or
commentary.

Moderator’s note: This press release was not carried verbatim in the print edition. Very few press releases are published in their entirety. The news item accurately reflected all of the major points in the police release.

Yes we do have nerve, lot of nerve, no actually, for me as a man…cojones. I can and did complain and critisize SN for their sloppy work sometimes and their incompetent journalists. What I never did was “cuss out SN”.
That’s what free speech is about malaika06, and that’s SN’s perrogative to delete me.
On the contrary, I would never enter a man’s home and slap his wife, I would never hit (violently assault and batter) a woman, any woman, I love women, so instead I’ll coax her into visiting my web. How would you like a tour?

I agree a witness can become a suspect and vice versa. However, I do remember reading in this same SN that the police and GDF (JS) saying very early at the beginning of this matter that they did not do it. Amen.
The crime committed here is without doubt, what is in doubt is WHO did it.
The first time this story broke, we heard Mr. Arokium alerting the Press Media first about who he “knows” did it. After that, when SN printed what Arokium said, everybody joined Arokium’s band wagon and said it was the soldiers and JS. The JS may have been accused of this Actus Reus, but it does not mean that the JS is Guiltus Reus…The JS has offered proof that it was not them by their previous statements of denial and bullet shell tests. What has Arokium offered us as proof to back his assertive “knowledge”? I am not twisting anything, if Stabroek News prints my posts, then you’ll see it’s a straight forward story, very simple to determine without all the hype, but SN does not print my posts thus causing you to think there is a twist.

M-Dog have you EVER been in what you call the Jungle? especially if the terrain is undulating? If you really had then you would know dat somke of the magnitude that it would take to burn eight bodies wrapped in tarp would be seen for between five to ten miles or more depending on your elevation and how clear the day was. The material that the tarp was made from alone would produce a thick black smoke. In short smoke from a fire of that size would be difficult to miss!

“…there is always smoke EVERWHERE in Guyana’s jungle anyway…” Are you kidding me??? Even if you had a series of cooking fires in a relatively small area you would hardly see the smoke on account of the leaves of the trees. Any smoke that a cooking fire emits would promptly dissipate as it rises upwards between the leaves.

Any tracker or hunter of men worth his salt would be looking for a smoke trail or sniffing for the scent of fire. That would have been an obvious clue. Come on man do better than that.

Assume like all of us writers the police are doing the same thing , that means like the entire Country we are running on the spot looking at each other assuming this is what happen to the men that got killed , Now all the crime in the city right in front of the police Headquarters they cannot solve how on earth they will solve the one in the jungle? I like your suggestion about getting some serious investigative journalism going to chronicle all those unsolve murders starting with Monica Reece.

But guess what? Well will have to get the prodcuers of ABC PrimeTime News Magazine or some other one of the US networks to come down and do that.

No local journalist worth his/her salt will go after such a story. One person, just one journalist might – Michael Jordan who now writes for Kaietur News.

Ask Gordon Moseley, nah!!!!!!! Adam Harris? he might figure he too old, Julia Johnson? Hmmm, perhaps when she gets closer to the real truth, she might not live to tell….

A foreign journalist, either US or British, sure. The Canadians? Well they really don’t care.
