Some people living abroad get very upset when people say The truth about Guyana as it is today , I support your comment it was well stated Why must anyone living abroad return to Guyana to subject themself to all the negative conditions that is in the country today?

I recently returned from a visit home, and following the advice of my wife removed all but one piece of jewelry (a ring) from my person.
Whenever I left the place I was staying I tried my best not to attract any unnecessary attention.

These petty thieves are a definite scourge on the society, and with the state of the economy we may be stuck with these creeps for quite some time.

The recent killing of that business man in Brickdam, in testimony to the fact that none of us are safe, and drives more fear in those of us living abroad and contemplating returning home to start businesses.

The Government, along with all political parties should speak with one voice, when it comes to crime, as that is their basic responsibility to the citizens of Guyana.
And by the way, we need to see the death penalty working again.

Globe Yard is and has been known as a safe haven for choke-and-rob bandits ...now there are gun toting crime graduates there also. That junction has always been a place to avoid whenever one is in that part of the City, that was one of the main reasons why Astor and Globe cinemas were the first to close (added to the home video recorder and TV in Guyana). Thieves were ever present there because they can easily escape in Globe Yard, no one would venture to chase a snatcher through there.
I wonder, and suggest, maybe the police, government along with the City Hall can close down that "thieves paradise" area the way we see entire apartments or even private homes over here boarded up so as to rid crime and the criminals from having someplace to hide out and operate from. I don't see the City losing anything making this move, I'm sure no one pays the rates and taxes for that "area" anyhow.

Fineman and his fellow psychopaths are not the real crime worries for Guyana.

The type of frequent crime reported in this news item is the real worry and needs to be fought on all fronts.
The criminal says he is an innocent man yet he lunged at that window risking life and limb to escape. Is this the action of an innocent man?
Furthermore he has confessed that he has had previous run-ins with the cops before.
It is a REAL CREDIT to the constables that they are bothering with apprehending such criminals because the courts seem unable to impose realistic sentences to stop such criminals from repeating their crimes time and again.
The police often come in for much criticism but blame must be apportioned to the courts' failure to be hard on criminals.

One must feel sorry for Mr Lees and hopes his injury is better soon but the public must try and get away from places where police action is taking place and furthermore Mr Lees and his family are in no position to plead the innocence of the suspect.
