Funnily enough, CNN’s World’s Untold Stories last week featured the effects of mining on Yanomami Indians. Almost at the end the reported also travelled to Guyana to visit Brazilians who were mining illegally. The firsts scenes of Guyana that you were greetd with was a wild party filled with prostitutes followed by the destruction!

I worked in the ‘interior’ up to 1978 and apart from visiting Bartica now and then (more then) I’ve been on a boat ride to Marshall Falls once in 2001 I haven’t been to the ‘beauty of my country. I do have a vague idea of this area – Arau.
Hope Mr. Sutherland writes some more on this trip and show more pictures.
It is also (this story) a true breath of fresh air compared to the ‘usual’ news stories.

Wow !! Mr Sutherland, you beared witness – both positive and negative.
As a descendant of ALEKUNA (Arecuna) the cocal drink should be KASHELE ( and not casiri).
