Bandits early yesterday morning stole the car of Jaipaul Sharma after he left a birthday party on Robb Street.

A relative told Stabroek News that Jaipaul had left the party at 12:30 am and had gotten into the vehicle, when two men on a bicycle rode up. Jaipaul was dragged out of the car and placed to lie on the ground while the men questioned him about who he was, who the persons upstairs were and asked what they were doing, the relative said.

Two other men also came up and Jaipaul’s car keys were taken away. The relative stated that as the men questioned Jaipaul, they hit him and he reportedly begged for his life as the men had a gun.

According to the relative, the bandits ordered him back into the car but while in the process of doing so; other relatives saw what was happening and raised an alarm.

Following this, the men got into the car and drove away. The matter was yesterday reported to the police. The car is a dark grey Toyota Corolla, number PHH 7614 and the relative said that Jaipaul had the car for about four years. Jaipaul did not sustain severe injuries during the beating. Up to last evening the car had not been recovered.
