A 24-year-old man who allegedly stole over $1.6 million worth of electronics from his former place of employment was remanded to prison when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Anthony Samuels of Lot 199 Thomas Street, Kitty was charged with larceny by a clerk or servant while Eyon Harris of South Ruimveldt was charged with receiving stolen property.
It is alleged that between May 19 and August 12 being employed as a clerk or servant by Gizmos and Gadgets, Samuels stole ten car alarms, one MP 4 player, two cellular phones and a range of other electronic products at a total value of $1,635,900. Harris on August 11 allegedly received a portion of the stolen property valued $78,000.
The attorney for both men made an application for bail to Magistrate Priya Beharry and requested reasonable sums. Samuels was refused bail and Harris was granted bail in the sum of $100,000.
Both men are to appear before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on September 24.

the thief should have been jailed , but the receiver did not know the items were stolen so he deserves to be warned and a chance to be alert and more cautious next time ,because most thieves are looking for buyers so beware.
the receiver is equally guilty as the thief. if there are no receivers thieves will think hard and long before stealing items they cannot use themselves. people should not buy stolen property period.
this receiver knew a lot abt the item dont blame the thief alone
Two worngs dont make a right.
