Dear sir

I’m an spanish traveler.I live in madrid. Next month I would like come in Guyana, couse i like very much the nature overhall when isnot conquest by the man. I’m interested to come in Bartica because i read tha it is a city where is simple to find same particolar minerals like diamonds and gold.
Can you say me if it will be daungerous? I read about same probelms there and i would like understand if is just a particolar crime or it’s happen often.

AND THE SAGA CONTINUES!!!!! I LIVED AT BARTICA IN THE 1980s AND IT WAS A NEST OF WEALTH. GOLD AND DIAMONDS COULD HAVE BEEN FOUND EVEN ON THE BEACH. AS A BOY, I FELT PRIVILEGED TO LIVE THERE BUT IN HINDSIGHT I NOW QUESTION WHY IT WAS THAT BARTICA WAS NEVER REALLY PROTECTED BY THE PROPER SECURITY FORCES.
GIVEN THE FACT THAT THE COMMUNITY IS SO RICH IN RESOURCES, THE PROPENSITY FOR CRIME WAS HUGE.
EVEN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE GROUNDS WAS USED FOR HELICOPTERS SINCE THERE WERE NO LANDING STRIPS FOR PLANES. AM I TO BELIEVE THE SITUATION HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE? GET REAL, JOINT SERVICES. EARN YOUR SALARIES FOR A CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very good and factual article. Congrats SN reporter!
I wonder if anyone really briefed former Crime Chief and now Comissioner Greene on this early? He knows that terrain, he worked there for some time in the past. I’m sure he could have been able to give them good guidance.
Anyway – we’ll see where it goes. Hopefully it will go to the capture trial and conviction of the perpetrators!

when there are people who are sympathetic and harbouring criminals especially if politics and little help from the media 6 mths is too short for security forces to get them they will get them anyway dead or alive because our forces are unrentless in their search

The policing tactics are antiquated and out dated in all regions of the Country of Guyana. You cant stop crime by responding , you have to prevent it.
What are your countermeasures? you need up to date your tactics.
You have to install cameras in all high crime areas that will allso respond to gun shots and tell you where the exact location is by the sound.. High tech speed boats with night vission to secure the water ways, train dogs and better air techniques of policing.Mandate that all motor vehicles have tracking devise in them when it is registerd or bought.Better pay for police officers and Army. Above all you need; out side help,and many high tech cross traine special crime units in every region.

My question is how they got back into the buxton backland, althoug it was bulldozed of all vegetation and the joint force had encamped in the backlands. And why would gunmen open fire on the joint services if they were on the run. If i was a gun man i would at all cost try to avoid any confrontation with the police, i would be the last person to open fire unless i’m confronted so that story does not add up. anyway i hope these men can be caught and put on trial and interrogated about their whereabout and how they got finance.

I had dream..Jagdeo made a pilgrimage to the (seven ponds).He was instructed to assemble a Task force of Joint Service veterans namely Deputy Commisioners Skip Roberts, Norman McLean,Laurie Lewis,Harold Martin,Asst Commisioners Alwin Smith, McCrae,Senior Supt.Gentle,Supts Henry Chester, Ulric London,Asst Supt.Sago. Col. Ulric Pilgrim,Lt Cols Carl Morgan,Desmond Roberts,David Granger, Joe Singh,Godwin McPherson,Fabian Liverpool,Hartley Liverpool,Victor Wilson,Major Ian Fraser, Capt,Max Hinds,WO Mills and Pelham Vancooten .Two days later Fineman,Skinny and his entourage all dressed in white together with a battery of Attorneys were found sitting in the vicinity of Stabroek Market.
By the way Jagdeo was instructed at the (seven ponds) to inform Robert that he too should should make a similar pilgrimage.
