City Council
The Mayor and City Council says it has no plans to privatize Le Repentir Cemetery however discussions are ongoing to outsource operations at the Chilling Room and mortuary.
Since the mortuary was handed over to the City Council it has been inoperable, a press release said. The Council said too some time ago the Chilling Room it built had been vandalised and an important component stolen.
Meanwhile, the Council said it is concerned that some funeral homes continue to dump bodies around the facility without care for human life or the dignity of the deceased. The Council said this callous behaviour displayed by the funeral homes is unacceptable as their actions jeopardise the health of persons who reside, work and traverse the area.

This Council is lost for sensible thoughts:
1. the Chilling Room has been vandalised and an important component stolen.
2. potential privatizing is available
But what do these JOKERS do ? According to the report above? a statement
comes out of these dull heads:
“The Council said this callous behaviour displayed by the funeral homes is unacceptable as their actions jeopardise the health of persons who reside, work and traverse the area.”
The result?
NO ACTION TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.
TIME TO GET RID OF THIS COUNCIL
Start with the Mayor who seems to be doing nothing except collecting a salary.
Carl, that’s Hammie for you. What do we have to do to get rid of the Mayor Hamilton Green and see some prospects?
I had in the past suggested that the Minister of Local Govt. replace Hammie with an interim governmenty like they did with Rose Hall Town Mayor in 2005. Why can’t the government do that and let us see some sort of progress? Hammie is just drawing tax payers’ money and doing nothing for it.
GET RID OF THE MAYOR HAMILTON GREEN.
Can someone hear me……. PLEASE.
This is a sickening and very dangerous situation, which poses a real threat of an outbreak of disease and epidemics, particularly during rainy seasons.
What is the health ministry’s role in this perilous situation and what are the opposition political parties doing to address this very important health issue?
Since the city council is incapable of dealing with this very seroius health hazard posed to the society, central government has a clear responsibility to intervene and save the society from the likely outbreak of diseases and epidemics, which can impact negatively and significantly on the economy and social life of the entire country.
Citizens in the vicinity of this area, should picket the city council, the ministry of health, the office of the president etc, to get an early resolution of this problem. Citizens should also contact the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) and the United Nation’s offices.
Excellent points Light
How about penning a letter to the SN, Guyana Chronicle, Kaieteur News and
Guyana Times on this matter?
Plus sending copies to the OPS and all the political parties?.
You might be surprised that you might get some real action taken.
Go for it !!
all 3 of the above comments are in order ,
the city council is not functioning fire the lot and start fresh .
