The police was right to shoot …When commanded to stop and you don’t it means you have something to hide , and something illegal that is. Is he had stopped when asked by the police I’m sure he wouldn’t have been shot . Good job by the police for apprehending this suspected criminal who could have used the weapon he had to kill someone.

Regardless if the police was wrong or right , it’s one more off the street.
After all the recent killings of innocent people, I can’ t believe some people are saying they’re sorry for this guy. What’s the purpose of him carrying a gun ?
That purpose is to use it on some innocent , hard working, honest guyanese

it’s time the police stop them by any means.

I must compliment that police, at least he will be out of service 4 a long time so its one less bandit one the streets. less fear 4 my fellow Guyanese.

The last time i was in guyana was 2006, all i did was asked a question i didnt dispute the officer shooting the youth. Now according to the news report it was never mentioned that the officer gave a command the the fleeing suspect to halt. if i look suspicious that does not give the officer to shoot me, despite he had illegal substance in his bag and an unlicene pistol in his bag does not warrant me to be shot if i wasnt confronting the officer to shoot a fleeing person is irresponsible and a coward act. and i maintain that stance, also that law in guyana needs to be ammended,

I don’t think you are wrong, I know you’re wrong, at no time nor there is no law that permits a police or anyone to shoot a fleeing person. If, however the person has a gun and is firing at the police while fleeing, then the police has all right to shoot him while fleeing. At the same time, if the shot person can prove (if he’s alive or if dead and if his family got a good lawyer) that although the fleeing man had a gun and was fleeing BUT WAS NOT SHOOTING (even though indeed he was shooting, and lawyers can lie good) at the police, then the police can be held in the wrong.

Amen_Ra…Like Mcbee says, When was the last time you went to Guyana? It’s the Law, You can shoot a fleein suspect in the leg. He should be lucky that he’s alive and not dead. The also found. 25 Beretta pistol and 1 kg 744 grammes of cannabis sativa. Now if he had kill or Robbed someone you would say something else, Like where’s the police when all of this is going down….Well the police was there b4 anything could happen. Good Work Guys!!

Guys stop.If you do not have the knowledge about a regulation ,educate your self before you offer a comment.
The GPF rules of engagement on the apprehension of a person is:

a) If the suspect is fleeing all effort must be made apprehend the person.

b) If the suspect is approaching you and do not heed your advise to stop ,only then can you fire or if you are being attacked.

Damn if they do and damn if they don’t is so true!!!!!!!!!!!, what do you people, who have nothing else to do, but ridicule and condemn, want. we all live outside of this place, can anyone of you really emphatize with these people who actually live in Guyana, we left our country for better shores, and on a daily basis what do we face, travelling 2 or more hours to our jobs, some of us doing the most menial work you can think of, wondering if a Rapist is lurking in some spot to rae and rob us, or if a stray bullet in a gunfight between gangs will hit us, and our children, living under peer pressure to either be the best they can be or end up on Rykers island, let the guyanes people fight their fights and win their struggles, advise, don’t condemn and ridicule.

What if you could read and comprehend? Then you would see that he wasn’t just unarmed but he also had 1.7kg of cannabis in his possession. If the world was turning on “what ifs” alot of things would be different.
