According to a police press release, at approximately 8.20 pm that day two men armed with a handgun and knife robbed the Lot 45 Scottsburg Housing Scheme, Corentyne family of $330,000 of cash and a quantity of jewellery.

Zalima Jamaludeen, 36, was in the upper flat of her two-storey home with her mother, Ramdeo Lotan, watching television with a door open.

The suspects climbed into the home and held up the occupants demanding money and jewellery, the release said.

One of the men, the release further stated, stood guard while the other ordered Jamaludeen into a bedroom where she handed over the cash and jewellery. The men assaulted the woman’s mother before escaping.

That’s pretty sad. I used to live not far from that area. That’s regular thieves from around the area. Let them play their ass in that side side of town, some of them will end up dead. Those people don’t play at that part of Guyana boy!! Those thieves will get killed when they find them, they will not make it to Springlands lock up. Why the hell would you rob the place, then assault the old lady!. I think they know who did that and they will pay the ultimate price……. some good broadside and then chop their ass.

Try getting a case through court in Springlands. It takes too much time and money. Go to court every week and the case is not heard, how many days off work can you take?
