Several persons have responded to the plight of 23-year-old Ovena Braithwaite and according to the god-mother of her son, Ann Davidson; she has brightened up at the prospect of a new home.
Braithwaite’s heart-rending story was published in yesterday’s edition of Stabroek News. Last Saturday a storm blew off the roof of the one bedroom shack that the pregnant mother of two had called home. In June her husband had mysteriously disappeared and life for the family was in a state of turmoil.
Yesterday, Davidson, who was one of a few neighbours who assisted Braithwaite, said that employees from Gafoors visited Braithwaite in her Yarrowkabra, Linden/Soesdyke community and brought food for the children as well as other foodstuff. She said that they promised to construct a new home for Braithwaite and are to return today to take measurements. Locally-based relatives of an American-based woman also made contact with her and promised assistance.
“She is much brighter”, Davidson said noting that the prospect of a new home had greatly cheered Braithwaite up.

……”success is achieved by seeing past the ordinary ! to sustain the success achieved ,, you now have to turn around and see the ordinary ” ,,,,,, just out of hope that we as a people ,,— whose desting is the tapestry of what it is to be “GUYANESE”— can continue this very same spirit for the world to know that we are ,, “distinctly different” to all around us !
let us all strive to make better our relations with each other ,, and to continue to add our voices for those who are unable to,, for their benefit ,, while at the same time making robust the ties that bind us ,, as “ONE PEOPLE ,,ONE NATION ,,

Sacred Heart has answered my prayers and I will also like to thank Gafoor for their assistance that they are giving to Ovena and her kids it is greatly appreciated. I have a big smile on my face now,

Can I get an address to mail some baby clothing for this woman?
I have made contact with Ms Braithwaite and her friend Anne.Anne said that her phone fell so often that sometimes it does not ring.at time of typing Gafoor has not been back to measure the place.Ms Braithwaite stated that she is afraid that they will not keep their promise. She received from me 40,000 gt dollars in which food, cell phone and clothing were bought for herself and kids. She also receive some money.I promise her that I am sending money for her to visit a Doctor since she told me that a nurse check on her.Concerning her sight she told me that she was born with poor vision that she had her eyes tested once but was told that she does not need glasses. She is well spoken and thanked me for assisting her and kids.I informed her that many people are trying to help but could not get through to her friend’s phone, hence the reason I bought her her own phone.I am collecting a donation from my job people are just willing to give when i show them the story.I am also in a process of sending of a barrel with baby clothes and food stuff. My family member is also assisting to get her birthcertificate.Ovena’s cell # is 592 672-8878.I told her that she can start expecting calls .Sandra i just read your blog and yes you can just call Ovena and she will tell you who to send the clothes to Let us keep up the good work.
See? This is what I am talking bout… not just all mouth and emotionalism. Thank you so much for what you have done and the information that you have been so kind to share with us.
Brave.
I am very confident, if, Gafoors’ promised to build a house, then it will be built, BUT, it cannot happen in a day.
Logistics have to be arranged with a contractor, and this takes time.
I am sure, this will be a donation from the Gafoors’ NOT their EMPLOYEES.
All in Guyana, know of the Gafsons’ Group and their many assistances to the needy.
I am in Pennsylvania, USA, and will be in touch with Gafsons’ in Guyana, for the latest update.
Hello My Dear Bloggers,

The people response to this woman’s situation demonstrates the decency and humaninty that still exists in the average Guyanese.
No one in Guyana deserves to live in absolute poverty. This is what racial politics have done to us.
Keep the good work up GT people.
God Bless Guyana.
