Several persons have responded to the plight of 23-year-old Ovena Braithwaite and according to the god-mother of her son, Ann Davidson; she has brightened up at the prospect of a new home.

Braithwaite’s heart-rending story was published in yesterday’s edition of Stabroek News. Last Saturday a storm blew off the roof of the one bedroom shack that the pregnant mother of two had called home. In June her husband had mysteriously disappeared and life for the family was in a state of turmoil.
Yesterday, Davidson, who was one of a few neighbours who assisted Braithwaite, said that employees from Gafoors visited Braithwaite in her Yarrowkabra, Linden/Soesdyke community and brought food for the children as well as other foodstuff. She said that they promised to construct a new home for Braithwaite and are to return today to take measurements. Locally-based relatives of an American-based woman also made contact with her and promised assistance.
“She is much brighter”, Davidson said noting that the prospect of a new home had greatly cheered Braithwaite up.

A big thank you to all you guys (and gals) that contacted me in referrence to getting articles of clothing to the needy in Guyana at the email address that I gave. (guyanafilms@yahoo.com) Some folks are on the West coast of the US and sending ’stuff’ from the West coast to the East coast where I am is almost like sending it to Guyana. this is brave’s daughter today i started shopping for the kids keith is a size 4t and Linda is a size 5 girls. i’m awaiting their shoe measurement to be faxed to me however Ovena wears a size 7 shoes. thanks for all your help in advance and if you live in the ATL area maybe we could get together and set up an organization not just to benefit the Braithwaite family but all parents who are less fortunate and struggling blog if youre interested.i donated school supplies last year to the primary School i attended as a child and i’m proud to say the kids are still using the supplies today just think how may more schools could be helped in the same way after all its for our leaders of tomarrow.in ending i’m sure heard this phrase before God dont come but he sends( think).luv BD

brave’s daughter again i noticed everyone is thanking gafoors but they did’nt do anything yet the only thing they did so far is get them selves on the front page.ovena is still waiting for those measurements that never happened today look my word is my bond so when i make a promise i make it happen i guess thats not the same for the gafoors.SN maybe you could give them a call big names usually respond 2 big names plus thats a sure way 2 get them back on front street give it a try.
