Unknown intruders broke into Singh’s Electronics on Regent Street early yesterday morning, escaping with some $3M in items that were in the store.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that the thieves gained entry through the side of the building and disabled the security system by cutting telephone wires. They even took the time disconnect the lights. The incident occurred sometime after 2 am.
While the bandits were in the building gathering their loot mostly from the display cases, a security guard at a nearby store became aware of what was transpiring and raised an alarm.
In their rush to escape, a briefcase containing some valuables was dropped, this newspaper understands.
This incident mirrors one committed on a city cambio earlier this month in which a safe was torched and $9M in local and foreign currency and a number of valuables stolen.
Between September 6 and 8, unknown persons broke into Mohammed’s Cambio at the corner of Regent and Hinck streets, after disabling the alarm system.

These thieves are most expert in their activities.
I feel that whenever the cops cathch such thieves, they should offer them jobs
in the “underworld section”; That way, the cops will be better guided in dealing
with similar thieves.
Ulric? coolieman? mackydog?… you agree?
Would the remuneration be lucrutive enough to keep them employed?
ehehehehe it takes thieves to catch thieves huh?
I think you mean they should be put to work for the government, rather than the “underworld” so they would be able to help security firms to come up more up-to-date systems to protect business.
Are you going to put cats to watchman milk?
Why not? They put George Bush there::::::Didnt they????? he squandered de surplus and amass the biggest defficit in US history…….
These bandits are all beneficiaries of “inside information.”
Pressure should be applied to either employees or trustees.

What I dont understand is that with the crime rate what it is presently why dont businesses secure there valuables and cash every evening.
Its the same thing with Momahed;s cambio. Why have that much cash on the premises over the weekend? Dosen’t make sense to me –unless there is more to this than meets the eyes
Mohameds had a safe which they torched. At Singhs they took items from a store with security system. Your point of securing their items is moot since they were already secured.
I fed up reading this place being robb.
It’s obvious these thieves are not afraid of the police. What’s driving them to carry out these acts , are they too brave , too desperate for cash or too stupid to realise the danger they’re putting there lives in. Only God knows. Too bad they escape , cause the police might have shot them and their supporters would start arguing that they didn’t get a fair trial .
EVILEYES, stick to CANADA Politics please. The U.S have no interest in what you say. Remember the word that i Used ‘POLITICS.”
