A 44-year-old Novar, Mahaicony man died after he was struck down by a motor car on Wednesday evening.
According to a police press release Ramgopaul Maraj was allegedly attempting to cross the Novar Main Road at about 6.15 pm when he was struck by a car.

Like most of the main roadways in the rural ares of the country, there are no crosswalks or signs, to facilitate safe crossings, particularly, at buisy points of traffic and pedestrian use.
There are so many simple and useful things that are neglected in this country, it is no wonder young people, especially, the educated and qualified, are choosing to leave the country.
This is another area of government’s negligence and mismanagement ; a few weeks ago a child fell into a school’s laterine pit and subsequently perished, just within hours three others burnt to death in another school’s dormitory, now this wanton death.
Condolence go out to the family of this tragedy !
