who helped Archimedes ,, or used his theory that has long been in practise ,,since then ,, to perform many herculean tasks made simple and effortless by use of the FULCRUN ! if GY ,, was/is no longer part of the global scene and prompted the caption ,, then would someone plz ,,tell me !……………

It is hardly likely that Synergy can raise that kind of money on the open market now or even if things were fine in the financial sector. The cost of capital (re: ERR) is quite high and the rate of return (re: IRR) will have to be even higher given that the government will not pass through any subsidies (maybe they will at both the capital and recurrent side since Jagdeo only know about tax consessions for attracting FDI). Even if the financing is found, can Guyanese afford to pay for the energy? I did some economic and financial work on this project in the 1970’s and doubt whether the market has grown that considerably big enough to allow for pricing to be based on marginal costs. Then the project envisioned to sell power to Suriname and Venezuela (if my memory of the detail serves me right). these countries now produce their own demand and have capacity for ranching up output as needed.

Everyone knows that President Jagdeo has offered to rent the Guyanese rainforests to the UN et al in order to keep planet earth breathing and ……… the silence from the world’s polluters is deafening!!!
Guyana is not asking charity. Guyana is offering to provide something essential for payment in return.
But as GEORGIE says, this kind of self help is NOT REQUIRED.
The rich countries expect the poor countries to buy THEIR output at a price THEY determine.
How did you think those rich countries got rich?
The UN does indeed do some good but mostly it is a joke.

Do we really care about our country? We come here to check up on the news so maybe we do care. Maybe. A little. But if you want to strengthen something, wouldn’t you start with its weakest link? What would you say is Guyana’s weakest link?

I don’t have the answers, guys. Perhaps nobody does. But I think it’s time we start asking the right questions. Because as far as I am concerned, the only thing Guyana truly lacks is an excuse.
