Thirty-six-year-old Rafeek Baksh, who ingested a poisonous substance after chopping a 28-year-old woman, died around 8 pm on Tuesday while in the open ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Meanwhile the woman, Natasha Ramphal, 28, of Industry, East Coast Demerara is said to be in a stable condition in the open ward of the institution. When this newspaper visited the woman at the hospital yesterday her hands were heavily bandaged and she had stitches to her head. Her relatives said that she is in severe pain. She was also receiving saline.
Ramphal was chopped three times on her head, twice on her left hand and once on her right hand by Baksh on First Street, Industry while on her way to collect her son from school.
I wish this woman a speedy recovery.And may he rot in hell.

Was this book in the same isle with, Bah, bah black sheep and Little red riding hood? This man butchered a woman and that is all you can come up with, Sir P. Sidney’s rambling. I hope I am not confused with that mouthful you just gave us and blame you because I can’t make out what you are trying to say. As far as I am concerned the man wanted to die and he got what he wanted. The world is better with him under our feet. I wish the woman a speedy recovery.
Next time you come across your two friends Sidney and Southey, tell them what this man did, then solicit their opinions. Also tell them even with jaundiced eyes, we who live in Guyana can cleary see what is blatantly wrong and make a judgement for ourselves.

My heart goes out to the families of both parties . what he did caused shame and embarrasment to his family , and pain and suffering to the woman and her family . I pray that God heal their wounds (spiritually and physically).

Tell me something, especially those of you who areso quick to condemn this man’s actions, is there anything that someone can not do to you that you will not commit the same or worse? For all I know this man could have been the victim in the first place and, just decided not to be the victim any more.

Well said – this was not a rush to judge – but a conclusion of facts – like premedit ated murder. Anyway, he took the poison himself and got what he deserved.

Michael, the man was not chopped by the woman so i don’t care if she cheated on him, steal etc. She did not cause blood to pour from inflicted wounds on this man’s boday so nothing gave him the right to do what he did. I know all stories have two sides but if we all get mad at others and hack them away with cutlasses, then where this leaves us. Humans are smart enough to reason and many times we fail to do that. we resort to violence and regret after.
