Its OK to call for Erskine’s head on a platter. Logically – the ‘boss’ has to take responsibility fr the failures of his/her subordinates, but in the current Guyana things surely most times go against the logical.
I agree that in most cases the remuneration does not equal the demands of the jobs, but that shouldn’t be the excuse for poor performance. It seems that incompetence is a qualification for promotions in this civil service given the amount of calls for the resignations/firings of so many civil servants for poor performance. To name a few Gir (The airport guy) Rohee, Luncheon. The thing is – after these people leave – will their successors (picked from a pool of those available) be able to do any better?

Here we go again —the soap opera continues . Maybe they let him go so he can be “famous ” –so the JF can track and take him down for another REWARD . I hope the Govt have money in their coffers to pay .

Don’t even go there about the pay issue. Like another blogger noted they darn well knew what the pay was when they accepted the job. As for motivation, well that’s why the likes of Erskine et al NEED TO GOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By now Dale Erskine should be so embarassed with this continuing prisoner-escape debacle, that the least thing he can do is RESIGN!!!

THe man is obviously sitting twiddling his thumbs that he’s ALWAYS available to the media to make some inane comment when these escapes happen, when he shld be buckled down with his staff and strategising ways to halt any recurrences.

Lemme break it down with this simple analogy.

A husband goes out every day in a week period, gets a job and then looses it. One right after the other. What you think the wife will tell him. Something wrong with the employers, hell no! She’ll tell him that something wrong with he (husband). She’ll tell him to check himself.

Darn hell, if this weren’t so serious, I’d say it was comical

thats easy for you to say you aint been there or done that, the government keep promising to make things better so you hold on because jobs dont grow on bushes and everyone cant go backtracking and what do you get except jumped on by people who dont know better give the hard working under paid overworked prison officers a break

y worry it a norm . like all the ills that as become apart of the modern guyana society. it just a reflection of how things are . single out presioner escaping and call for people to resign is not going to happen . after all the servant takes lead from his master.this is guyana accuontability is not a word in administrators vocab.mediocrity is that what we are fed and that wat we accept.
and as for pay all know wat it is b4 joinng just like the politician ,but they living high live and the servant want bread to eat. so he fellow the master

Like prisoners escaping too much now…Dale is like de Prezz of de prison…So we say…De buck stop wid de Prezz……Just like de bucks stop wid Dale….All we are saying is for Dale to not come to press to say he dont know how this is happening….Dale—You—Me and every body know how and why this is happening….Prison guards ( watchmen & watch women ) are on the take….like –taking bribes….bribes and mo bribes and its Dale who supposed to look into this from the very first escape……I understand your frustration Tweety….but you have to understand ours too….thanks and do take care….maybe dem need–evileyes–to watchman dem criminals ehehehehehe

Seriously, are the people on duty being thoroughly investigated when these breakouts occur? There must be something going on when you consider the frequency with which prisoners are escaping. One is inclined to believe they are being “set free”.

OMG! How many more of these prison escapes do the average citizens have to put up with???? It has become an epidemic. I purpose that they repair the prisons and implement some sort of walk through process that would account for the prisoners at various time periods during the night and day. Erskine also needs to revisit the current accountability procedures and resolve any loopholes.

Well said Uncle Joe, but when the “pay” isn’t good, motivation fails & if the prisoners pay better who will stop a recipient from accepting?!?! Besides, the old decrepit facilities, lacking maintenance can’t hold a 4 yr. old if he wanted to leave so ………. there you have it.

” I want to break free, I want to break free for the first time, this time i know it’s for reall…..” Troy Otto sang as ge banged against the metal bars. The prison officers though the three inmates were having a party in the cell so they pulled out their stached bottles of rum and started to drink and danced to the banging and singing. The next morning when they were no longer intoxicated and cleaning up their vomits from the ground, only then they realised that Otto had actually broken free.
