Political interference and gross mismanagement is now reaching a critical stage in Guysuco. This has resulted in square pegs in round holes in critical management positions in the corporation’s fields, factories and admin.

The corporation has grossly mismanaged its human and financial resources resulting in under achievement of yearly targets. Despite having an excellent Apprentice and Management training program, nothing is done to retain these valuable resources thus other businesses reaps the results of Guysuco’s investments.

I hope something is urgently done to reverse this trend in the near future as I am confident that this once glorious corporation can return to its rightful place in agriculture and a key institution for producing highly qualified people in all spheres of the sciences.

God Bless Guyana.

the fundamentals of agriculture is drainage and irrigation ,, that to de minister is like chinee algebra ! coupled with that is,, he just does not get ,, but to be fair to him,, those b4 him didn't either ,, but those b4 him did not have to worry abt weather the way he has to now ,, then,, all of the many variables in the equation that is now,, was scarcely known,, so him being depressed,, is where the lack of vision stands tall,, rain fall now is the result of increased global economic activity for the sustenance of almost 7 billion of us ,,on say,,6 continents !

so to have a handle on feeding the people in Gy ,, rain is the first impediment to this ,, nothing ,, no plans ,, at least we have not heard of any to improve the mechanism for increased production to satisfy domestic markets and that of the c'bean ,, n/america and europe ! it was felt that by making him , de minister of agriculture,, he would be able to show his skills at "managing" the nations largest earner of foreign exchange and creating sustained employment for the largest block of workers by the govt ,, having now failed to be able to accomplish this with out knowing anything abt rainfall -- GY is part of the largest rainforest on the planet ,, hence rain at the drop of a hat -- the burning ,, of anything is what fuels rain,, added with all the other elements that produce dust in and over GY ,,

the dust rises ,, and is blown in land from the 6 hours of sometimes very strong winds from the atlantic ,, inland to higher elevations and the rest of what developes is what comes back down as rain ! and because of the increased activity of indutrialisation by the super power of south america ,, (brazil) including all the other countries on the block ,, both east and west of the Andes incloding the fact that the equater runs thru the widest part of south america ,, we have to include the suns energy in the equation of all things on the planet !........

but none of the above would be of any use to de minister or the govt ,, of GY ,, since the PPP led govt is no better than the man with the MBA ! agriculture is a discipline for those who understand rainfall ,, and by that i mean,, in todays world ,, to be on top of the game ,, u MUST be able to read what's happening on a global scale to make anything grow with yields of abundance !,, but no one can tell those who know how to manage ,, .

I will say the cost of all this was fine man saga, too many canes was destroys in cane fields to unearth fine man and his gang. (Sarcastic)
This pretty much scared the heck out of me for the minister of Agriculture to come out and say Sugar Output have decline, what is the most intriguing part is that someone who was hosting talk show and reading news was all of a sudden given the position as Minister of Agriculture, does anyone know his background and skills. Agriculture sector of this nation is the back bone of this country but for sum reason the Ministers and Pass Ministers did not for one second taking this industry seriously. When you treat something bad don't expect to get good out of it. Stop blaming the Sugar estates, what comes in that is what you get out of it, get people to the right job. Sugarcane is one of the easiest things to grow but if you don’t have proper management of the crop therefore your yield will be low thus reflect the figure you published here in SN. Perhaps too many excuses!

If it's a revelation to anyone who is now seeing the reason why Skeldon was chosen for this "modern sugar producing" behemoth in berbice is naive ! why not diamond or wales,, or any of the other factories ???? the only mistake,, or based on mediocre vision,, after the baby is born ,,now the guysuco ,, -- anything baptised with " GUY " b4 it's name in GY is doomed to bcome horse manure it's de curse of burnham ! don't take my word for it ,, just look around ,, cos it damn sure's not hiding in plain sight ,, rather,, it is so conspicuous that all r
consumed --,, square pegs are looking for clothes and food for the baby ,, the analogy here is repulsive but its the only way of calling a spade a spade !,,,,,,,

.......with all respect to the people of guyana.......guyanese should demand more from guysuco, it’s direction, and it’s impact on guyanese working and benefiting from this sweat shop ……there are some difficult days a head and employees should be told honestly where the sugar industry is heading…….because at the end of the day it’s the neighboring community that suffer…..let us continue to look at the out come of the old verses the new and the communities affected….example skeldon verses blairmont/ithaca….let wait and see
