An 18-year-old Annandale, East Coast Demerara resident was yesterday slapped with thirteen counts of robbery under arms and one count of break and enter when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Theon Branche will return to court next Thursday.
A police release stated that the charges were laid following intense investigations into a series of armed robberies committed on business places and members of the public over the past few months in Georgetown
Some of the business places he allegedly robbed are Multi Tech Lab at New Market Street; Games Shop Arcade at the City Mall; a Games Shop at Albert Street, Alberttown; Munchkins at Lamaha Street; Rainbow Fashions at Camp and Bent streets; Genesis Pet Shop at North Road, Bourda; Tasha Intimate Bath and Body Boutique at Barr Street, Kitty; and Simply Gorgeous at Station Street, Kitty.
Boy with that record you going to straight jail, at 18 you priming yourself to be a notorious criminal. It sad to see you took that road to a means out of poverty, you could have tried to get a job, or go in the bushes and do some mining, but you choose to turn to the gun and now you get caught i hope you man enough to do the time.

It’s amazing how everything negative goes back to the government. Where in the world it’s the government responsibility to take care of everything? Perhaps socialist states. Are we a socialist state? There was a time when we were and government controlled everything. Did you like it then? Where does the private sector fall into all this? Is their sole responsibiltiy to stash away money? What about investing and creating jobs? Who do you think drives the economy in developed and developing countries? It’s the private sector! Yet, in Guyana this group is never held to any responsibility. Let me give you an example, who do you think is behind the major sports in the USA, government?

I am pretty sure he had other options. It sickens me to see that a lot of young men are turning to crime instead of making a difference and investing in an education for themselves.
I give up on appealing to the government. It’s all up to their parents and teachers. Fathers who plant their seeds and run from the responsibilities. Mothers who allow them to plant their seeds knowing that they would not be a good example to their children. There needs to be more education on parenting. That’s part of the root cause of crimes. If they had parents who insisted on them being in school, helping with their homework, complementing them for job well done, showing them love and always being there for them I am sure the crime rate would be very low. I do understand that parents have to work and would find it difficult to help with home work etc. but when you decide to have a child it comes with a lot of responsibilities. The parent and teachers are in charge of molding that child.
